AgroWizard launches trunk diameter meter 2.0

AgroWizard has introduced an updated version of its fully automatic trunk diameter meter. According to the company, version 2.0 offers more accurate measurements, improved GPS positioning and additional functionalities for avenue and fruit tree nurseries. The update is currently being rolled out to existing users and is also available to new customers.

AgroWizard's trunk diameter meter automatically measures the trunk diameter of trees using a camera mounted on a quad bike or tractor. The collected data is stored in an online platform, together with information such as tree species and location. This gives growers insight into the growth, stock and value of their trees.
According to AgroWizard director Yannick Smedts, accuracy has improved in particular. 'By continuously training the AI model behind the measuring application, we are able to accurately map trunk diameters under a variety of conditions � for example specific weather conditions and a large variation in tree species,' he says in a press release.

Drones and aerial imagery

AgroWizard is also working with a partner that uses drones to measure crown diameter and tree height. This can also be used to create an orthomosaic: a detailed aerial image of the plot. According to the company, it has also become easier to retrieve historical measurement data and photos of trees.
The new version also includes stake detection. This allows the camera to automatically recognise stakes and poles in a plot, so drivers no longer have to enter this data manually. AgroWizard also says improvements have been made to maintain online connectivity in areas with limited internet coverage.
