'By offering organic bulbs, we give customers a choice' In addition to sustainably grown flower bulbs, JUB Holland has been supplying organic bulbs for several years, sourced from Skal-certified growers. This was a deliberate expansion of the assortment, says JUB Holland director Robbert Uittenbogaard: "By offering organic flower bulbs, we give customers a choice. It's well known that organically grown bulbs are guaranteed to be free of crop protection products."
The assortment of organic flower bulbs at JUB continues to grow each year. This can make it difficult for customers to choose. Uittenbogaard: "That's why we're now putting the spotlight on our 25 best organic flower bulbs." This selection complements the top 25 of other JUB Holland bulbs. The top 25 consists of very strong organic varieties that reliably return or naturalize and bring color and atmosphere to any border, planting bed, or verge for months. Each variety includes a short description, with tips on application, soil type, planting location, and combination possibilities. Allium nigrum A distinctive Allium with a hemispherical flower head. Its green-white color makes it suitable for many different color schemes. Stunning when combined with the yellow-green flowers of Alchemilla or with Astrantia. Also pairs beautifully with silver-leaved plants like Artemisia and Salvia. Fantastic in a wildflower meadow. Allium 'Purple Sensation' An extremely robust variety that also thrives in partial shade. Its deep purple color pairs beautifully with Astrantia, Knautia, Verbena bonariensis, and ornamental grasses. Allium sphaerocephalon This Allium loves a sunny location. Its late bloom in June makes it an essential bulb! It lives up to its nickname, "drumstick." Looks great among ornamental grasses such as Pennisetum and Stipa species, and airy plants like Thalictrum and Nepeta. Also combines wonderfully with thistles and Camassia. Allium 'Summer Drummer' A very late and tall Allium with a purplish-red color that looks beautiful among ornamental grasses. Can reach a height of more than 2 meters and blooms in July-August. As the flower fades, the white stamens become clearly visible and highly decorative. Camassia leichtlinii 'Caerulea' Camassia prefers a slightly moist location. In May/June, it blooms with bright blue star-shaped flowers. The spike-like flower structure combines beautifully with Nepeta, Allium, Geranium, and ornamental grasses. Crocus vernus 'Flower Record' A large-flowered, purple crocus that brightens up borders in early spring when they're still dull. Crocuses prefer a sunny location. Combine them in lawns with other crocuses for a colorful display. A fantastic plant for bees. Crocus vernus 'Jeanne d'Arc' This pure white crocus has a bright orange stigma, making it a real eye-catcher in the grass. Combines beautifully with other early white crocuses and spring bulbs such as *Galanthus nivalis*. Crocus tommasinianus 'Ruby Giant' A cultivar of the woodland crocus and a well-known *stinzen* plant. One of the best naturalizing bulbous plants. Looks stunning in a sunny lawn or beneath winter-blooming shrubs. 'Ruby Giant' blooms in a subtle lilac-purple tone. |
