Key Highlights at GrootGroenPlus: Geotex Omni Pro and Nursery Eco Cleaner

Terrazza is actively expanding into new markets. This Belgian specialist in cleaning and weed removal solutions supports its efforts with ingenious new products showcased in Zundert. Two key highlights at their stand at GrootGroenPlus are the Geotex Omni Pro and the brand-new Nursery Eco Cleaner. These solutions meet the demand for user-friendly, sustainable, and ecological cleaning methods for growers. Director Dany Mestdag proudly shares the ins and outs.

The Nursery Eco Cleaner

The most remarkable highlight is the introduction of the Nursery Eco Cleaner. This machine is designed to remove moss, dirt, and weeds from all types of cultivation tables, whether covered with woven or non-woven anti-root fabric, as well as from walkways and work areas. The Nursery Eco Cleaner is battery-powered and lightweight, weighing only 2.7 kg. "It's a very convenient tool, with no cables or external connections," says Mestdag.

Cleaning Cultivation Tables

The Nursery Eco Cleaner is primarily designed for cleaning culture and nursery tables in nurseries and garden centers. "There are two types of tables: one with a waffle structure and one with a flat surface where Geotex fabric is placed. In garden centers, these are used to display potted plants for customers; in nurseries, they are used for growing crops. These tables are often in warm and humid environments, which leads to a lot of moss and algae buildup. Once the pots are removed, cleaning becomes essential—and difficult. Many companies move the tables outdoors to clean them with a pressure washer. Alternatively, they could be cleaned manually indoors, but that is rarely preferred. Until now, there wasn't really a suitable tool for the job," says Dany Mestdag.
Terrazza believes it has found the solution with its patented brush system. "What's unique about our brushes is their ability to clean complex structures. When the brush spins, it scrapes out the dirt from grooves and crevices. When the surface is lightly moistened, it creates a kind of sludge that can be easily rinsed away with a hose. This makes cleaning waffle structures much easier. If Geotex fabric is present, the brush can be swapped out for one that's better suited to cleaning root fabric."

Well-Balanced Weight

The Nursery Eco Cleaner is compatible with standard CAS batteries, with options like 18V DV, 5.2 Ah (Li-ion) and 18V DC -10.0 Ah (LiHD). A Terrazza ASC 55 battery charger can also be supplied. Mestdag explains: "You could use batteries from well-known brands' cordless drills for our cleaner. They are relatively affordable and provide up to one hour of operation. The batteries are mounted at the back of the device but can be rotated to balance the weight with the brush in front. Holding the machine in the middle results in even weight distribution. You can also rotate the batteries 180 degrees for better balance when working vertically or overhead."
Thanks to the electric motor, the brush operates at lower speeds—anywhere from 65 to 250 RPM. "For rough surfaces, the lower speed reduces stress on the machine. With six speed settings, the device is suitable for various surfaces and levels of dirt. It's simple and comfortable to use."

"Many growers are looking for an ecological way to clean. Our specialized brushes provide a solution."

Challenge Without Chemicals

The device can also clean other surfaces, such as floors, walls, and even algae-covered glass. For these tasks, an extra Velcro plate is provided with the Nursery Eco Cleaner. Various cleaning pads can be attached to it, suitable for glass, plastic, and metal. Terrazza is currently adding a sponge accessory and plans to expand Velcro-based solutions.
For many growers, cleaning without chemicals is a challenge. "I won't claim our tool can do everything, but it's definitely multifunctional. When used correctly, anyone can operate it. It's a lot more enjoyable than scrubbing by hand, and more importantly, our brushes address specific problems that are otherwise hard to solve. Many growers work in sterile lab-like conditions. They all need an ecological cleaning solution." Mestdag emphasizes that the Nursery Eco Cleaner is now widely available.

The Geotex Omni Pro is also suitable for hard surfaces.

New Omni Pro Version of Geotex

The Geotex Pro, designed for cleaning ground and root fabrics, has already proven itself. The latest development is the addition of the Omni Pro version, which can clean not just ground fabric but also concrete and asphalt at nurseries and garden centers. "There was demand in the market for broader applications, so we adapted our offer. The Geotex Pro is now available as the Omni Pro for general cleaning use. Whether it's ground fabric, concrete, asphalt, or another surface, it works. We've added extra brushes that users can install themselves to convert the machine for different cleaning needs."
The brushes for the Omni Pro are made from different materials than those for fabric. "For ground fabric, we use brushes with carbon integrated into the synthetic fibers to remove algae and moss. For concrete and asphalt, we use purely metal brushes."
Mestdag notes that international demand is increasing. "We now have representation in the US and Canada. We exhibited at Cultivate, a trade fair similar to IPM in Ohio, where many nurseries have hard surfaces. There was a clear need to use the Geotex Pro for cleaning more than just fabric, and we've met that need. After attending several trade fairs, we've also seen growing interest in the Omni Pro version here."
