Landscaping company Michelbrink happily uses the Weedee PRO weed removal machine with electric EGO drive
Weed control is often a tricky matter for landscapers. The use of chemical herbicides is increasingly being restricted. Mechanical weed removal, and especially electric, is the solution for a more sustainable future. In this context, Terrazza MC has now equipped its Weedee PRO weed removal machine with EGO batteries. Landscaping company Michelbrink has purchased one and is very positive about its use. "The Weedee PRO is very user-friendly and delivers quick results."

Jonnie Michelbrink, owner of Landscaping Company Michelbrink, has been happily working with Terrazza MC for several years. He first came into contact with the Belgian specialist more than four years ago at a supplier's demo day, where a Terrazza TMC patio cleaner was being demonstrated. "I was immediately enthusiastic," Michelbrink recalls. He purchased a patio cleaner and has used it with great satisfaction ever since. Earlier this year, Michelbrink encountered the new Weedee PRO weed removal machine, also from Terrazza MC. The easy-to-handle and maneuverable Weedee PRO can be used on various hard surfaces, such as patios, driveways, parking lots and walkways made from concrete, bricks, cobblestones, paving stones and asphalt. A big advantage is that the Weedee PRO is multifunctional thanks to its interchangeable brush system.
EGO Batteries
The weed remover is equipped with two batteries from EGO, the battery specialist that also supplies electric tools. Michelbrink: "We already use quite a bit of electric EGO equipment. When I saw that the Weedee PRO runs on the EGO battery system, I was immediately convinced. EGO batteries are excellent — I know from experience. Terrazza gave a demo that further confirmed my confidence. A local reseller we often work with supplied the weed remover to us. Everything went smoothly, including thorough user instructions and good service." Michelbrink has now been using the Weedee PRO for several months. "We've used it a lot already. Our team likes working with it. It's very user-friendly. What's great is that the machine runs at relatively low RPM, which minimizes the risk of flying stones. The ergonomics are also spot on. Changing brushes is easy — just plug and play."

He emphasizes once again the unique brush system of Terrazza machines. "We already knew the strengths of the system from our Terrazza TMC. It's a different way of brushing compared to machines that only use steel brushes. Thanks to the clever combination of plastic and height-adjustable steel brushes, the Weedee PRO works absolutely great."

High Power, Low Noise
The EGO battery system is a major plus for Michelbrink. "You can work for about four hours on one battery, but it's easy to bring a spare and swap it if needed. You can also bring the charger with you to the job site. That way, you can work all day with the Weedee PRO. The power is great — it doesn't slow down, even under resistance. The machine is cleverly engineered. And it's virtually silent thanks to the battery drive, which also makes maintenance nearly unnecessary. A fuel engine needs a lot more care. And of course, it produces no emissions, which helps reduce CO2 — something we must contribute to. Fortunately, battery-powered equipment is getting better and more widely available. Even our vans will become electric eventually — how fast that happens depends on the government. We're moving more and more toward electric tools and machines, especially with EGO batteries." At Michelbrink, the need for mechanical weed control has grown because chemical methods are increasingly restricted. "That's just the direction we have to go. I've tried hot air and hot water methods, but they're extremely labor-intensive. The Weedee PRO requires much less labor and delivers results in a relatively short time. That's great. It required a mindset shift for us and for the client. In the past, you sprayed a herbicide and were done in ten minutes. But that's no longer allowed, and it shouldn't be. Maybe the Weedee PRO takes a little more effort, but the return is just as good." Michelbrink also sees the Weedee PRO as part of their service. "We're very dedicated to our maintenance clients who return every year, and this machine adds extra value. It's easy to bring along, so we often load it up just in case. For example, with the Terrazza TMC we can make a green patio look like new again. If you've pruned and tidied a garden at the end of the day but the patio is still green, the job feels unfinished. When you can also leave the terrace or deck looking clean, you're offering something extra and truly making an impression."

The Weedee PRO with EGO Battery System
The Weedee PRO is a multifunctional weed removal machine that stands out with its two different brushes — Weedee and Terrazza Wire TECH (TWT) — and its reduced rotation speed. The highly maneuverable machine removes weeds and moss from hard surfaces thoroughly and efficiently, without using chemicals, high pressure, or thermal treatment. Its solid frame and powerful motor enable vibration-free operation with virtually no lateral forces. The simple brush-change system allows for quick switching between brushes. The Weedee PRO comes with two EGO 12Ah 56V batteries and two fast EGO 700W chargers.

Landscaping Company Michelbrink
After graduating from horticultural school, Jonnie Michelbrink started his own landscaping business from his garage in Hulsel in 1989. His motivation was a desire to be self-employed and a passion for working outdoors. He also liked that landscaping delivers visible results at the end of each day. Over the years, Michelbrink's business has steadily grown. Around twenty years ago, he built a new home and company building on a farm property in Hulsel. That spurred further growth. Today, eight full-time employees and several apprentice landscapers work at the company. Michelbrink runs the business together with his wife and (since early this year) his son Rik. The company operates in the Kempen region, spanning both the Netherlands and Belgium in a 35-kilometer radius. Michelbrink handles garden design, installation, and — importantly — maintenance, which forms a solid foundation for the business. Projects range from small gardens to large-scale landscaping, mainly for private clients, and occasionally for businesses.
