According to the Dutch certification agency RDW, the Hapert brand was the best-selling trailer of 2024, although it had a smaller market share than in previous years.

Landscapers can turn to some 250 Hapert dealers for platform trailers, box trailers, tippers, transporters, and enclosed trailers. And if you ask marketing manager Robert de Lange to elaborate, he replies: "Altogether we offer more than 1,000 variants across twenty product groups. Product development is an ongoing process at Hapert Trailers. In addition to developing and producing the strongest trailers in the world, we also strongly focus on innovation. With landscapers in mind—an important target group for us—I'm pleased to share some innovations with the readers of De Hovenier magazine!"
Update
De Lange: "Recently, we introduced loading ramps with a perforated surface. These provide better grip for the rubber tracks of a mini excavator covered in mud. This allows landscapers to load such a machine more safely onto our trailers. The new loading ramps are part of the loading package for the Hapert Cobalt and Azure models. The latter refers to open trailers. Our tippers are known under the model name Cobalt. You'll see them often."

"The tandem axle model has a loading bed of 405 by 200 cm"

Until recently, the Cobalt HM-2+ tipping trailer was a popular tandem-axle model for landscapers. This reinforced and three-way tipper with a gross payload of 3,500 kg is now also available as a triple-axle model: the Cobalt HM-3+. That's the second innovation. De Lange: "In addition to the previous bed size of the tandem axles (335 by 180 cm), we now also offer them with a bed size of 405 by 200 cm. Our Cobalt+ triple-axle model is only available in this larger size. Despite the increased volume, the gross payload is still 3,500 kg. These heavy-duty tippers have removable corner posts, strong foldable support legs, and an extra heavy-duty jockey wheel. The Cobalt models are equipped with a fully welded, hot-dip galvanized upper and lower chassis. The chassis of the now six Cobalt tipper variants comes with a ten-year warranty if registered by the customer. That warranty also remains valid if the trailer changes owners."
Configurator
The Hapert trailer range is very extensive, with twenty product groups and many configuration options. So how do you find your way around? Hapert has developed an easy-to-use configurator (www.HAPERT.com/configurator/) to help landscapers discover the possibilities and configure their ideal trailer. With this brand, the tension latches are always integrated into the folded sidewall. De Lange: "We supply tippers to all types of companies in the landscaping sector. These include rear tippers and three-way tippers. They're often used to transport compost, sand, green waste, or wood chips. For the last two, Hapert offers 75 cm high, easy-to-handle mesh sides. This allows professionals to transport larger volumes in one go. The Cobalt HB-1 and HB-2, which only tip backwards, have one and two axles respectively. Depending on the number of axles, the maximum payload of these tipping trailers ranges from 1,350 to 2,700 kilos."

If we consult the Hapert configurator for, say, machine transporters, we find the Indigo model, a ramp trailer with the loading floor between the wheels on LF types. On HT types, the loading floor is positioned above the axles. These ramp trailers are made for landscapers and pavers to transport their machines to job sites. Think of mini excavators, mini loaders, plate compactors, lawnmowers, and scarifiers. De Lange: "This target group often chooses tire size 195 50 R13, to get the lowest possible floor height. This keeps the ramp angle as small as possible. The securing system for the machines is robust and TÜV-certified."
Flagship model
When asked which model is Hapert's flagship, De Lange answers without hesitation: "Definitely the three-way tipper and reinforced Cobalt HM-2+, and our new Cobalt HM-3+, as shown in the photo at the top of this article. All Cobalt HM tipper models come standard with an electrically powered hydraulic pump. This supplies oil to the five-stage lift cylinder. The power comes from a built-in battery. The battery charger connection is located at the front of the trailer. The Cobalt HB models, on the other hand, use a manually operated three-stage cylinder for tipping. Of course, versions with a reliable (emergency) hand pump function are also available!"
About hapert
Wagenbouw Hapert BV was officially founded in 1966, but the company's history dates back to 1913, when the grandfather of current director Ad Saris started a small forge in Eindhoven. In 1989, the company opened a new welding hall in Hapert. Due to growing demand for trailers, a 13,000 m² production hall was added in 1998. That year, the company delivered 7,500 trailers, two-thirds of which went through its dealer network in the Netherlands and Flanders. The remainder were shipped to Germany and Switzerland. Up to 2024, the company has produced approximately 300,000 trailers in total. The annual production is about 10,000 trailers.
