In the recently published Grasgids 2026, the best-performing grass varieties for sports fields, recreation and public green spaces have once again been assessed. DLF is again prominently represented this year with 50 varieties listed. Thirteen of these achieved a top-three position within their variety group.

The Grasgids is based on independent variety trials conducted by Wageningen University & Research and therefore provides a reliable overview of performance under practical conditions. According to DLF, the results show that continuous breeding and innovation contribute to strong and durable grass solutions, even under increasing challenges such as drought, disease pressure and intensive use.

First place

Several DLF varieties finished in first place within their category. These include Tetragame (perennial ryegrass tetraploid), Gwynett (perennial ryegrass diploid), Balkan (slender creeping red fescue), Tunia (strong creeping red fescue) and Quatro (sheep's fescue). These varieties are widely used in sports turf and lawn mixtures and are known for their combination of wear tolerance, density and recovery capacity.
