Team change after eight years
Lex Wijnbeek is ending his work for De Bonte Berm. The ecological roadside verge concept, which is applied by municipalities and land managers, is entering a new phase. Over the past eight years, Wijnbeek was closely involved in the development and implementation of the concept. During that period, more than 70 projects were realised in the Netherlands.

Under his guidance, De Bonte Berm developed into an established approach for flower-rich verges with extensive management and monitoring. Wijnbeek supervised projects from start to completion and worked closely with JUB Holland, HEEM and partners within the NatuurPro network. The combination of ecological knowledge and practical experience formed the basis of the current concept.
Transfer to Ted Duivenvoorde
The work will be taken over by Ted Duivenvoorde. Over the past year, he has already worked alongside Wijnbeek and will officially take over this year. Duivenvoorde has long been involved in De Bonte Berm through JUB Holland and will continue working on the further rollout and development of the concept. Wijnbeek looks back on his work with satisfaction: 'The strength of De Bonte Berm lies in cooperation and trust. By learning together, the concept has grown into what it is today.'

What is De Bonte Berm?
De Bonte Berm focuses on transforming grass verges into flower-rich verges with higher biodiversity. The concept combines native herb mixtures with flower bulbs and requires only one mowing per year. This results in long-lasting flowering and lower maintenance costs. At the same time, the verges provide food for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Management is tailored to each location, taking soil conditions and use into account. Partners within the NatuurPro network manage the entire process, from analysis and design to construction and monitoring. In this way, De Bonte Berm continues to develop as a practical solution for ecological roadside verge management.
