With Easy Stadium, Rofraline and supplier/development partner Lumiforte introduce a new line-marking paint for sports fields. The product was developed specifically for stadium use, but is also drawing attention from top amateur clubs. The development focused on achieving a whiter line, good adhesion and low consumption, without placing additional stress on the turf.

According to Ronald Grotenbreg, co-owner of Rofraline, the initiative followed clear signals from the market. 'With Rofraline EASY, we already had a product that satisfied customers. But in stadiums the question is always: can it be even whiter, without losing other properties? That was our starting point.' The challenge was not limited to colour. 'Whiteness matters, but it is about the complete picture. The paint must not settle, has to dry quickly, adhere well and remain stable in storage. All those characteristics had to remain at least equal to the existing product.'

'We mainly wanted to increase whiteness, without harming the turf or adding extra costs.'

The development took place in close cooperation with Lumiforte. Ruud Disco, commercial manager at Lumiforte, describes the process as optimisation. 'The existing product already scored well on ease of use and low consumption. You can place the can in the machine or robot and start immediately. Our aim was to enhance whiteness without negative effects on the grass or higher costs.' Turf sensitivity required caution. 'Grass is a living organism. In the lab, we examined how to adjust the formulation to gain extra whiteness without causing damage when used correctly.'

Joost Anthonissen, product manager at Lumiforte, explains that improvements were achieved by fine-tuning the existing recipe. 'Most raw materials remained the same. We adjusted the proportions. That may sound minor, but it can have a major impact. With these formulations, balance is crucial and every step was carefully tested.' Trials took place both in the laboratory and in practice. Rofraline organised field tests at stadium clubs. 'In blind tests, this paint was consistently identified as the whitest,' says Anthonissen.
Disco emphasises that performance also depends on application. 'Machine type, nozzle, walking speed and weather conditions all play a role. With incorrect use, any paint can damage turf, for example if applied too thickly. The balance lies in applying a thin layer while achieving maximum whiteness.' According to Grotenbreg, practical guidance is therefore essential. 'We stay close to the work floor. We assess which line-marking trolley is used, which nozzle and which pressure. Sometimes a small adjustment is enough to achieve the best result.'
Top amateur clubs
EASY Stadium was developed with professional clubs in mind, but interest is broader. 'We are already receiving enquiries from top amateur clubs,' says Grotenbreg. 'Often for the main pitch. The convenience of ready-to-use, low-consumption paint appeals to them as well.' Rofraline's market approach remains unchanged. The company delivers directly, maintains personal contact and supports users in practice.

'Ultimately, the goal is to bring a fully biodegradable line-marking paint to the market.'

Lumiforte is also looking ahead. According to Disco, the company continues to invest in research and development. The long-term objective is to develop a fully biodegradable line-marking paint, in response to demand from municipalities and other managers. He notes that such innovations require time and careful development. With EASY Stadium, Rofraline and Lumiforte take a further step: increased whiteness, the same working method and continued focus on practical field management.
