Early entries point to record number of introductions at autumn edition of Plantarium|Groen-Direkt

On track for more than 75 novelties

Plantarium|Groen-Direkt expects a higher number of novelties at this year's autumn edition than last year. Then, 75 new products were presented, but the organization believes that this number will be exceeded. "We have already received 25 entries, whereas around this time last year there were hardly any," says the organization.

Companies usually submit their introductions late to ensure optimal presentation timing. According to the organization, the increase is partly due to a call for earlier submissions. It is also notable that new companies are stepping forward with innovations.

Most entries are newly bred plants competing for the title of Best Novelty.

On 27 August, the Green Retail Awards for Best Novelty and Best Market Innovation will be presented. The public award for Visitors' Favourite will follow on the second day of the fair, 28 August.
Most entries are newly bred plants competing for the title of Best Novelty. The professional jury of the KVBC will assess them on quality and added value. Bronze, silver, or gold medals are possible. One plant will ultimately receive the Green Retail Award for Best Novelty.
Among the entries are varieties of Buddleja, Hydrangea, Lavandula, Salvia, and Ficus.

Noteworthy: many new companies are stepping forward with innovations.

The Best Market Innovation category is intended for innovative concepts or brands. The first entry is Magnolia figo '# Hedgetag' from the German Diderk Heinje Baumschulen. This evergreen Magnolia is suitable for flowering hedges.
The organization expects another ten to fifteen entries. A professional jury of European retailers will select the winner, who is guaranteed shelf space in one of the participating chains.
For the public award Visitors' Favourite, the first entry is Hebe Varia Wild Blue from Addenda Growers' Association. This variegated Hebe combines abundant flowering with availability for immediate sale. The organization expects a total of twelve entries for the Visitors' Favourite category.

The novelties can be viewed at the exhibitors' stands as well as at the GROEN-Direkt trade fair. Submissions are open until 6 August.
