With the introduction of the Snow-Blade SB-295, the Dutch sports field sector has gained a new professional solution for clearing snow from both artificial turf and natural grass fields. The snow plough, which has been widely used since 2008 in Norway and other Scandinavian countries, is now available via Spin Turf Machinery in Amsterdam.
The Snow-Blade SB-295 has been developed for use on relatively small tractors, which is an advantage for sports clubs and municipalities working with compact machinery. A notable feature is the curved, backward-sloping blade, which does not push the snow forward but allows it to 'roll'. This keeps the snow within the working area of the plough and removes it efficiently from the field. At the bottom, the plough is fitted with a plastic scraper that separates the snow from the grass without damaging the fibres. According to the supplier, this makes follow-up brushing unnecessary, saving time and additional equipment use.
Protection of the turf
Two height-adjustable support wheels carry the weight of the plough, keeping pressure on the turf to a minimum. This is intended to prevent damage to both natural grass and artificial turf, an important consideration in winter maintenance. For users who want more control over snow discharge, the SB-295 can optionally be equipped with a hydraulic tilting mechanism. This allows the blade to be angled to the left or right, preventing snow from falling back onto already cleared parts of the field.
