How a simple switch brings calm to the workplace
The outdoor maintenance service of the municipality of Brummen has been working for three months with two new battery charging cabinets from Seefion: one large cabinet in Brummen and a smaller one in Eerbeek. The cabinets are used for safely charging and storing batteries for forestry and garden machines. Brummen had been looking for some time to improve storage conditions. "We simply had the chargers in an open space. That didn't feel right," says Mike Willems-Meijer, coordinator BOR-Buiten.

The cabinets were supplied via the Brummen branch of Kraakman. Sales specialist Gijs Bleumink guided the process. "It always starts with the question: what exactly do you want? Think of the layout of the cabinet, the number of power sockets and the circuit it will be connected to," he says. The height of the room and a possible escape route are also checked in advance.
According to Bleumink, the layout requires more attention than many organisations expect. Batteries differ by brand and type. "If you mainly use Stihl batteries, you can work efficiently with 4-in-1 chargers. If you have many backpack batteries, the layout needs to be different." Remco van Kuilenburg, director at Seefion, says they visited the site for an inventory and consultation. "We always enter into discussion and provide a solution that fits."

Safer and more organised
For Willems-Meijer, the benefits are mainly practical. "We want to be sure that batteries are charged safely. If someone drops a battery and then still puts it in the charger, you never know what could happen." Van Kuilenburg adds: "The cabinet keeps a possible fire contained for a long time and can send a signal to the fire alarm system. That is not yet connected in Brummen, but the option is there."
According to Willems-Meijer, employees are positive. "Everything is in one place. Nothing gets lost anymore. And we now work with battery holders, so no one walks around the site with loose batteries." An open cabinet door turned out not to be convenient, colleagues quickly noticed. "After a minute, a loud beeping sound goes off. You won't forget that again," he laughs.

Seefion: cabinets that move with the sector
Seefion supplies battery charging cabinets in various sizes for municipalities, green contractors and construction companies. All models have been tested for fire resistance and can be configured for different types of chargers and machines. Van Kuilenburg: "We learn a lot from practical experience. Every location is different. We look at ease of use, safety and also at what might change in the future."

Extra preparation prevents many problems
Looking back, Willems-Meijer considers the preparatory work especially important. "Involve the technical service and facility staff at an early stage. And think about the budget. In our case, that has to be requested well in advance."
In short, the experiences are positive. "We now have a safe place to charge and everything is well organised," says Willems-Meijer. And according to Bleumink, one thing is clear: "Many organisations still wait before installing such a cabinet. But if something goes wrong, it is already too late."
