Belgian hockey clubs discover the benefits of an air dome |

More and more Belgian hockey clubs are choosing an air dome from RSI SPORTS so they can continue training and hosting matches during the winter season. For the second year in a row, the number of clubs using this inflatable sports hall is growing. The main reasons are affordability, comfort and the fact that clubs become fully independent from heavily booked public sports facilities.
Belgian hockey has been growing strongly for years - by around 8% annually - and with a large share of youth players, continuity is crucial. At HC Lokeren, this is clearly noticeable. 'Five years ago we had three indoor teams; now we already have eighteen,' says chairman Jacko Verheijen. The club installed its own air dome at the complex in November. 'The nearest indoor hall is a twenty-minute drive away. For many youth members, that is not an option.'
HC Blackbirds also recently invested in an air dome. According to treasurer Sven Moresi, it is a cost-efficient solution, partly thanks to a government subsidy for supra-local sports infrastructure. 'With this scheme, the club only has to cover one third of the investment. In addition, the dome can be assembled by volunteers, without the need for expensive external contractors.'
In addition to Lokeren and Blackbirds, top club HC Gantoise has also chosen an RSI SPORTS dome, including flooring and boarding. The result is a complete indoor hockey facility on its own grounds, with a constant temperature of around 13 degrees Celsius thanks to the insulating air layer in the structure. With this development, clubs expect not only improved sporting conditions but also further growth in membership numbers. In Belgium, the air dome is rapidly proving itself as a future-proof winter solution.
