In a press release, Modiform announces it will phase out the activities of its subsidiary Thomsen in France. The reasons are sharply rising costs, declining demand and Modiform's strategic direction.
Thomsen, known for the production of injection-moulded pots, was founded in 1995 and has been part of Modiform since 2018. After several initiatives to improve margins and sales, Modiform's management concluded that continuing production is no longer economically viable.
Future-proof
The injection moulding activities will be phased out by mid-2026. Orders already placed and those still to be received for Thomsen products will be delivered until the end of this year. A redundancy programme has been set up for Thomsen's 34 employees, including a social plan and support towards new employment. "Although this decision was not easy, it is an important step in our strategy aimed at making Modiform more future-proof," CEO Wilma Bloot states in the press release.
