After acquisition and rebranding: focus on on-site service and flexible use of electric work vehicles
Following an acquisition, Nextro is presenting itself to the market with a new name and a revised strategy. The company, which focuses on electric work vehicles, is placing strong emphasis on personal customer contact, custom solutions and on-site service. 'We don't really sell mobility, but tools that people must be able to rely on every day,' says Jos van Heemskerk of Nextro.
The origins of the current Nextro lie with Van Blitterswijk Eco-Mobility. This division has grown strongly in recent years, partly due to large contracts such as with online supermarket Picnic. 'We started with a few dozen vehicles. This year we are growing to 2,300.'
From sales to total solution
In 2025, the company was split. The garden and park activities remained with the Van Blitterswijk family, while eco-mobility continued as Nextro Mobility & Fleet Service. This also marked a clear change in direction: the dealer network was discontinued and the company now works directly with customers. According to Van Heemskerk, Nextro's strength lies not only in the vehicles themselves, but in the overall solution. 'It starts with the question: what does a customer really need to do their job? That is often custom work. Some customers know exactly what they need, others do not. Then we ask: have you considered this?'

On-site service as a starting point
This approach is especially visible in practice. Nextro almost always visits the customer, bringing a vehicle suited to the work. Employees can test the equipment directly in their own working environment. 'That way you know for sure it works in practice.' After delivery, this approach remains. Maintenance and service are largely carried out on site. 'In case of a malfunction, we are on location within 48 hours, anywhere in the Netherlands. People need to keep working.' For green professionals, this means less downtime and fewer logistical issues. Especially for smaller companies, this can be attractive. With one vehicle and different attachments, such as a loading platform, high-pressure cleaner or leaf vacuum, multiple tasks can be carried out.

Focus on four sectors
Nextro focuses on four sectors: city service (such as municipalities and green contractors), leisure, industry and last-mile logistics. The company sees many applications in the green sector. 'Think of maintenance in parks, waste collection or small transport in the city. These activities are increasingly electric. Then you need vehicles that are practical and suited to the work.' The choice for a direct sales strategy is intended to support this. By maintaining direct contact with customers, Nextro aims to respond more quickly and better address specific needs.
Introduction of the Goupil G4+
An important moment this year is the brand event on 4 and 5 June in Strijen. There, Nextro will present itself to the market and introduce a new model: the Goupil G4+. 'It is slightly larger than the existing G4. We will show who we are and what we do, and visitors can test drive it themselves.' The event is aimed at different sectors, with dedicated sessions per target group. In addition to demonstrations, there is also room to exchange experiences.

Next step: in-house leasing
In addition to sales and service, Nextro is working on a next step: in-house leasing solutions. These are expected to be introduced in the second half of the year. According to Van Heemskerk, demand is growing, especially in the green sector. 'In tenders, companies often have contracts for two or three years. They do not want to be tied to a vehicle for longer.' With financial and operational lease, and possibly short lease, Nextro aims to respond to this need. According to Van Heemskerk, this fits the broader goal: to fully support customers, from advice to deployment and maintenance. 'Ultimately, we want customers to focus on their work, while we take care of the rest.'
