NGF statistics 2025: growth in golf continues |

Golf in the Netherlands continues to grow. The latest statistics from the Royal Netherlands Golf Federation (NGF), with reference date 1 April 2026, show that the country now has 445,009 registered golfers. This represents an increase of 3.3 percent compared to a year earlier. The growth therefore continues after the strong rise during and immediately after the COVID-19 period.
Clear regional differences are visible. South Holland again has the highest number of golfers with 98,409, followed by North Holland with 89,885 and North Brabant with 80,005 golfers. Utrecht also remains an important golf province with 48,143 golfers, while Gelderland reaches 41,970. Overijssel stands out with 21,616 golfers and records the strongest growth in percentage terms: plus 5.3 percent in one year. Flevoland has 7,887 golfers, Groningen 8,499 and Friesland 6,769. Only Zeeland is an exception, with a slight decline to 4,997 golfers.
Fastest growing golf clubs
In addition to provincial growth, there are also clear shifts at club level. The fastest growing golf clubs are mainly organisations with flexible membership structures. ANWB Golf shows the largest membership growth, followed by Stichting Registratie Golf and De Hollandsche Golfclub. United Golfclub and Golf-Pro-Motion are also growing above average.
