New GX560i is fully battery-powered
Husqvarna has introduced the GX560i, an electric hover mower for golf courses. The machine is designed for tasks such as mowing slopes and hard-to-reach areas, where greenkeepers currently often use petrol-powered machines.
The hover mower is not a new concept. It became widely known in the 1960s through Flymo, a brand that later became part of Husqvarna Group. The GX560i builds on the familiar principle, using airflow to make the machine hover above the ground. This makes it suitable for slopes and uneven terrain. During a demonstration at The Belfry, Husqvarna presented the machine as part of its wider range of battery-powered equipment for golf courses. The GX560i is fully battery-powered and has two battery slots. When one battery runs out, the machine automatically switches to the second.

Quieter operation on the golf course
According to Husqvarna, the lower noise level is an important advantage, particularly on golf courses with hotels or event venues nearby. The electric drive also offers advantages on slopes, as the limitations associated with the fuel supply and lubrication of petrol-powered machines no longer apply, according to the Swedish manufacturer.
