BoostMKB and padel platform PLAI are joining forces to develop a new digital platform designed to connect players, clubs and commercial partners. The solution will complement existing booking and payment systems and focuses on increasing player engagement, both on and off the court.

According to the two companies, most digital systems in the padel sector are primarily designed for practical processes such as court bookings, payments, access control and administration. The new platform is intended to help clubs engage with players before and after a match as well. Through the platform, players can watch matches back, view automatically generated video highlights and track statistics. It also offers options for challenges, competitions, reward programmes and personalised content.

More opportunities for engagement

For clubs, this should create more opportunities to interact with players and build an active community. According to the developers, clubs can also gain a better understanding of the interests and needs of their members and visitors. Existing systems for bookings, payments and other operational processes will remain in use. The platform also offers new opportunities for sponsors and other commercial partners. Instead of being visible only through traditional sponsorship, brands can be linked to activities such as challenges, tournaments, content or player rewards.

Joost Bos, co-founder of PLAI, sees a clear need for this. "Clubs already have systems that allow them to manage their day-to-day operations effectively. What is still missing is a way to stay in touch with players outside the booking process and actively engage them with the club." Michel van den Houten of BoostMKB points to the rapid growth of padel. According to him, the commercial and digital opportunities surrounding the sport are not yet being fully utilised. By connecting players, clubs and brands more effectively, the aim is to create greater value for all parties involved.

First step into Spain

The partnership is not limited to the Netherlands. A first step has already been taken in Spain, where the platform is being used at a padel club on the Costa del Sol. The experience gained there will contribute to further expansion in the Spanish market and other European countries. According to PLAI, the move into Spain shows that the need for greater digital support and player engagement is not limited to the Netherlands. Even in countries where padel has been established for longer, clubs are looking for ways to further develop their communities and create new sources of revenue.

Expansion

Within the partnership, PLAI provides the technical components of the platform, including match recording, AI-powered video analysis, automatic highlights and player statistics. BoostMKB focuses on commercial development, partnerships and international growth. The platform will be further developed and rolled out at padel clubs in the Netherlands and Spain in the coming period. The two companies are also exploring expansion into other European markets. According to the companies, initial discussions for the French market have already started.
